 SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF NORTHERN MISSOURI THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING...MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY
36...HOWEVER A FEW STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG AND SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 70. NO SEVERE WEATHER IS EXPECTED.

 HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 105 THIS AFTERNOON.

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SATURDAY.

* TEMPERATURE: HIGHS THIS AFTERNOON WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER
  90S OVER FAR NORTHWEST MISSOURI TO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 90S
  OVER THE REST OF THE REGION. SATURDAY AFTERNOON WILL SEE
  SIMILAR HIGH TEMPERATURES. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM
  100 TO 105 DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS BOTH
  DAYS.

* IMPACTS: THOSE EXPOSED TO THE DANGEROUS HEAT AND HIGH HUMIDITY
  OVER A PROLONGED PERIOD HAVE AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT RELATED
  ILLNESSES. CARS CAN REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER OF
  MINUTES. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS UNATTENDED IN A
  VEHICLE... NOT EVEN FOR A MINUTE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...AVOID CAFFEINATED...ALCOHOLIC OR HIGH
SUGAR CONTENT BEVERAGES...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY
OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON NEIGHBORS...THE ELDERLY...AND
PETS.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
LATE EVENING.  KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND
HEAT STROKE.  WEAR LIGHT COLORED...LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING
CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE.
