This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Nearshore
waters of western Lake Superior.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Very strong northwest winds will continue through today with gale
force gusts of 35 to 40 knots, especially in the morning hours.
Winds and waves will gradually diminish tonight. These strong winds
will result in dangerous conditions across western Lake Superior.
Please refer to the Gale Warning in effect for more details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Southwest winds will increase Friday, with winds shifting and
becoming northwesterly Friday night resulting in building waves and
potentially hazardous conditions for small craft across parts of
western Lake Superior.

...GALES CONTINUE TODAY OVER THE SOUTH SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR...
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT OVER THE NORTH SHORE OF
LAKE SUPERIOR TODAY...

.NORTHWESTERLY WINDS GUSTING TO 25 TO 35 KNOTS WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH THIS MORNING, THEN GRADUALLY DIMINISH THIS AFTERNOON. IN
ADDITION TO THE STRONG WINDS, WAVES WILL BUILD TODAY, ESPECIALLY
ON THE SOUTH SHORE, WHERE WAVE HEIGHTS COULD INCREASE TO AS HIGH
AS 4 TO 7 FEET. WINDS ALONG THE NORTH SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR HAVE
DIMINISH A BIT SINCE EARLIER THIS MORNING, SO THE GALE WARNING
FROM GRAND PORTAGE TO DULUTH TO PORT WING HAS BEEN DOWNGRADED TO A
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY. THE GALE WARNING CONTINUES ALONG THE SOUTH
SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR DUE TO THE MORE FAVORABLE NORTHWEST FETCH
AND HIGHER WAVES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES
EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE
HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.
