434 AM EST MON DEC 5 2016

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...ALL OF
MASSACHUSETTS EXCEPT BERKSHIRE COUNTY...AND RHODE ISLAND.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

LIGHT SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED THIS MORNING...BRINGING A PERIOD OF
HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES. A COATING TO
2 INCHES OF SNOWFALL IS FORECAST...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS
NORTH AND WEST MASSACHUSETTS. WHILE THE SNOW SHOULD BE LIGHT...THE
TIMING COULD CAUSE DIFFICULTIES DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE.

THERE IS ALSO A VERY LOW RISK FOR PATCHY FREEZING THIS MORNING
ACROSS NORTHERN CONNECTICUT, AND CENTRAL AND WESTERN
MASSACHUSETTS AS THE SNOW WINDS DOWN LATER THIS MORNING. THE
BIGGEST QUESTION REGARDING THIS POTENTIAL WILL BE IF TEMPERATURES
ARE STILL BELOW FREEZING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING...LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE
AGAIN POSSIBLE IN THE AREA...WITH THE GREATER RISK FOR LIGHT
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE INTERIOR.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS MAY APPROACH WIND
ADVISORY CRITERIA OF 30 MPH SUSTAINED OR 40 MPH GUSTS BEHIND A
POLAR FRONT...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

...A BRIEF PERIOD OF ACCUMULATING SNOW DURING THE MORNING
COMMUTE...

AT 4 AM SNOW WAS OVERSPREADING WESTERN PARTS OF CONNECTICUT AND
MASSACHUSETTS. SNOW WILL CONTINUE MOVING EAST AND WILL OVERSPREAD
THE REMAINDER OF THE REGION THROUGH 7 AM. SNOW WILL QUICKLY BECOME
STEADY WITH MODERATE INTENSITY...HOWEVER THIS WILL BE SHORT LIVED AS
SNOW BECOMES LIGHTER AND INTERMITTENT LATER THIS MORNING. IN
ADDITION WARMER AIR WILL BEGIN ADVANCING NORTHWARD THROUGH THE
REGION...TURNING SNOW TO RAIN ACROSS MUCH OF CONNECTICUT...
RHODE ISLAND AND EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS LATER THIS MORNING.

ALL OF THESE FACTORS WILL LIMIT SNOWFALL TO A COATING TO ONE INCH
ACROSS RHODE ISLAND AND EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS. FARTHER
INLAND...NORTH AND WEST OF I-95 ACROSS CENTRAL-WESTERN
MASSACHUSETTS AND MUCH OF CONNECTICUT SNOW TOTALS WILL BE SLIGHTLY
HIGHER...ONE TO TWO INCHES WITH A LOW PROBABILITY OF UP TO 3
INCHES ACROSS WESTERN CONNECTICUT AND MASSACHUSETTS.

ANTICIPATE IMPACTS TO THE MORNING COMMUTE ESPECIALLY FROM
HARTFORD TO SPRINGFIELD. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES WITH SNOW.

PRECIPITATION WILL END THIS AFTERNOON FROM WEST TO EAST YIELDING
A DRY LATE DAY COMMUTE.
