CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW ENGLAND INTO TONIGHT WHILE JUST A MODERATE
SNOWSTORM AFFECTS FAR WESTERN NEW ENGLAND...

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST TODAY...

* LOCATIONS...CAPE COD AND MARTHAS VINEYARD. THIS INCLUDES THE
  TOWNS OF CHATHAM...FALMOUTH...PROVINCETOWN AND VINEYARD HAVEN.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW...STRONG WINDS AND BLIZZARD
  CONDITIONS. CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. STRONG TO
  DAMAGING WINDS.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 12 TO 20 INCHES...WITH UP
  TO 2 FEET NEAR THE CAPE COD CANAL. SNOWFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3
  INCHES AN HOUR AT TIMES THIS MORNING.

* TIMING...THE WORST OF THE STORM WILL BE THROUGH THIS
  AFTERNOON...THEN DIMINISHING LATE TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN WHITE-OUT
  AND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES.
  TRAVEL WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE AND LIFE THREATENING ACROSS THE
  ENTIRE REGION. STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN DOWNED TREE LIMBS
  AND ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 65 AND 75
  MPH. THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDS WILL BE THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BLIZZARD WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OR FREQUENT
GUSTS OVER 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH CONSIDERABLE FALLING AND/OR
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL BECOME POOR WITH
WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THOSE VENTURING OUTDOORS MAY BECOME
LOST OR DISORIENTED...SO PERSONS IN THE WARNING AREA ARE ADVISED
TO STAY INDOORS.

ALL UNNECESSARY TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED! THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE-
THREATENING STORM!
