The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Carroll County in north central Maryland...
  Frederick County in north central Maryland...

* Until 245 PM EST

* At 206 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Braddock
  Heights, or near Harry Grove Stadium, moving northeast at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
           to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
           damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
           downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
           Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include...
  Frederick, Westminster, Thurmont, Emmitsburg, Harry Grove Stadium,
  Ballenger Creek, Taneytown, Walkersville, Braddock Heights, New
  Market, Clover Hill, Discovery-Spring Garden,
  Linganore-Bartonsville, Adamstown, Jefferson, New Windsor,
  Woodsboro, Buckeystown, Union Bridge and Libertytown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Get indoors to protect yourself from wind and lightning. Trees around
you may be downed from damaging winds, so if you are near large
trees, move to an interior room on the lowest floor. Don`t drive
underneath trees or in wooded areas until the threat has passed.

CENTRAL MARYLAND...CENTRAL FREDERICK COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL
MARYLAND...LOUDOUN AND NORTHWESTERN FAUQUIER COUNTIES IN NORTHERN
VIRGINIA...

At 154 PM EST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Boonsboro to Hume. Movement was
northeast at 45 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 to 50 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Frederick, Leesburg, Broadlands, Lansdowne, Brambleton, Poolesville,
Harry Grove Stadium, Ashburn, Ballenger Creek, Purcellville,
Brunswick, Walkersville, Braddock Heights, Middleburg, Round Hill,
Arcola, Hume, Oatlands, Delaplane and Clover Hill.

Locally heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
cause ponding of water on roadways and cause small streams to go out
of their banks. Be alert for the potential of standing water and
hydroplaning.
