Winter Weather Advisory

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
1004 PM EST MON JAN 26 2015

...A MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT PORTIONS OF OUR AREA THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

.RAPIDLY INTENSIFYING LOW PRESSURE EAST OF THE DELAWARE COAST
WILL MOVE NORTHEASTWARD TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THIS
INTENSE LOW WILL TRACK SOUTHEAST OF CAPE COD TUESDAY EVENING, THEN
WEAKEN AS IT MOVES AWAY TO NOVA SCOTIA ON WEDNESDAY. THIS STORM
WILL PRODUCE HEAVY SNOW ACROSS PORTIONS OF OUR AREA, HOWEVER A
SHARP DROP OFF IN AMOUNTS ARE ANTICIPATED TO OCCUR AS ONE GOES
FARTHER SOUTHWEST AND WEST ACROSS OUR AREA. THE BRUNT OF THE STORM
IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR OVERNIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.

TUESDAY...

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW WITH AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 6 INCHES, WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS
  TOWARD PHILADELPHIA.

* TIMING...PERIODS OF SNOW INTO TUESDAY MORNING, BEFORE TAPERING
  OFF BY LATE MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL DUE TO SNOW AT TIMES AND AREAS OF
  BLOWING AND DRIFTING.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST TO NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS 30 TO 40 MPH,
  WITH THE HIGHEST GUSTS CLOSER TO THE DELAWARE COAST.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE MID 20S, ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES NEAR FREEZING
  IN SOUTHERN DELAWARE WILL DROP INTO THE 20S.

* VISIBILITY...AROUND ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE
TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED
VISIBILITY, AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
