539 AM EST MON DEC 22 2014 /439 AM CST MON DEC 22 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN UPPER
MICHIGAN AND CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF FREEZING DRIZZLE THIS MORNING OVER
PORTIONS OF CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN.

SNOW WILL MOVE INTO SOUTH CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN AFTER MIDNIGHT. AN
INCH OR TWO OF ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED BY DAYBREAK. THE SNOW MAY MIX
WITH RAIN NEAR THE BAY OF GREEN BAY. SEE THE LATEST SPECIAL WEATHER
STATEMENT FOR MORE INFORMATION.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

MODERATE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED OVER WEST AND CENTRAL UPPER
MICHIGAN ON TUESDAY. SNOW MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO RAIN EAST OF
MARQUETTE AND IRON MOUNTAIN...ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. SINCE THE SNOW WILL BE WET AND HEAVY...SLIPPERY TRAVEL
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED. SEE THE LATEST SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
FOR MORE INFORMATION.

THERE IS STILL A POTENTIAL THAT A STORM LIFTING OVER THE GREAT LAKES
WILL AFFECT THE EAST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN WITH A PERIOD OF MIXED
PRECIPITATION CHANGING TO SNOW WEDNESDAY INTO CHRISTMAS EVE. THE
LATEST INFORMATION CONTINUES TO SUGGEST THE WORST WEATHER WILL MAINLY
MISS UPPER MICHIGAN. THE TRACK AND INTENSITY OF THE STORM REMAINS
VERY UNCERTAIN THOUGH...SO THOSE WITH TRAVEL PLANS FOR THE CHRISTMAS
HOLIDAY...ESPECIALLY TOWARD THE MACKINAC BRIDGE AND OVER LOWER
MICHIGAN...ARE ENCOURAGED TO STAY TUNED TO LATER FORECASTS.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

THE NEED FOR WEATHER SPOTTER REPORTS IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS
TIME.

...MODERATE SNOW EXPECTED OVER MUCH OF UPPER MICHIGAN LATE TONIGHT
INTO TUESDAY...

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING INTO THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES WILL RESULT
IN SNOW...POSSIBLY MIXED WITH RAIN...SPREADING INTO SOUTH CENTRAL
UPPER MICHIGAN AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. SNOW WILL THEN MOVE OVER THE
REST OF UPPER MICHIGAN ON TUESDAY MORNING. WARM AIR WRAPPING AROUND
THE LOW WILL ALLOW FOR THE SNOW TO GRADUALLY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO
RAIN OVER THE EAST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN AND OVER THE WEST HALF NEAR
THE LAKE SUPERIOR SHORE. THE PRECIPITATION WILL DIMINISH OVER SOUTH
CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN DURING THE DAY. MEANWHILE...TEMPERATURES WILL
STAY COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY OVER MOST OF
THE INTERIOR WEST HALF. TOTAL SNOWFALL BY THE TIME THE SNOW
DIMINISHES ON TUESDAY NIGHT WILL RANGE FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES OVER THE
WEST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN...TO 1 TO 3 INCHES OVER THE EAST HALF.
THIS SNOW WILL BE WET AND HEAVY SO SLIPPERY TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED.

CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT SNOW WILL OCCUR ON TUESDAY...BUT THERE IS
STILL UNCERTAINTY ON WHERE THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL FALL. BE SURE TO
MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS.
