This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of southwest Lower
Michigan.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and Tonight

An increasing risk for flooding exists later this afternoon into
tonight. Showers will be on the increase with even a few
thunderstorms. The rain will become heavy at times...especially
tonight...which could lead to flooding. Severe weather is not
forecasted.

Areas of fog will reduce visibilities through tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

The flood potential will remain high into Wednesday as several
rounds of heavy rain are forecasted. Local ice jams may occur. High
water levels are forecasted on the area rivers through the end of
the week as the water routes its way downstream into Lake
Michigan. Several additional storm systems are possible Friday and
again on Sunday which could lead to additional precipitation.

A few thunderstorms will be possible into Tuesday evening. Any
stronger storm could contain gusty winds.

The Flood Watch continues for

* Central Michigan, south central Michigan, southwest Michigan,
  and west central Michigan, including the following areas, in
  central Michigan, Clare, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm,
  and Osceola. In south central Michigan, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton,
  Ingham, Ionia, and Jackson. In southwest Michigan, Allegan,
  Barry, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ottawa, and Van Buren. In west central
  Michigan, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected through Wednesday morning.
  Locally higher amounts are possible.

* The rainfall, combined with melting snow, could cause flooding
  across the area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be

* Major Flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, rise above flood stage by Wednesday before midnight and
  continue to rise to near 16.8 feet by Saturday evening. additional
  rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact, at 16.0 feet...Major flooding on homes along Abrigador
  Trail, Willow Drive, Riverbank Street and Konkle Drive. In Comstock
  Park and Plainfield Township approximatley 100 homes affected by
  flooding.

* Minor Flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, rise above flood stage by Friday early afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 21.7 feet by Saturday evening.
* Impact, at 21.6 feet...500 parking spaces in the Alticor Inc.
  parking lot are inundated and one gate into the Alticor Inc.
  complex is closed due to the high water. Ada River Walk near
  Covered Bridge and Leonard Field Ball Park in Ada flooded.
