FLOOD ADVISORY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI
1014 AM EDT MON JUN 29 2015

...The flood advisory continues for the following rivers in Southwest
Lower Michigan...

  Grand River At Ionia affecting Ionia County
  Sycamore Creek At Holt affecting Ingham County
  Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond affecting Allegan County
  Thornapple River Above Hastings affecting Barry County
  Kalamazoo River At Comstock affecting Kalamazoo County

.Rivers in the Grand and Kalamazoo basins remain swollen as a result
of heavy rainfall over the past few weeks. Several rivers are out of
their banks and flooding low lying areas. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are expected today and Tuesday, but rainfall is not
expected to have a significant impact on the rivers. The following
forecast is based on observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

A flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are
forecast to exceed bankfull.  If you are in the advisory area remain
alert to possible flooding... or the possibility of the advisory
being upgraded to a warning. Report observed flooding to local
emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this
information on to the National Weather Service.

The Flood Advisory continues for
  the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond
* until late Wednesday night.
* at 09 AM Monday the stage was 15.0 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast, the river will rise to near 15.3 feet by tomorrow
  morning.
* Impact, at 15.0 feet...River is bankfull and begins to spill over
  into large swampy areas along the river.

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY...ESPECIALLY DURING
THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED. THE
MAIN HAZARDS FROM ANY STORMS WILL BE CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING
STRIKES...SMALL HAIL AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN.

RIVER LEVELS REMAIN HIGH ACROSS THE GRAND...KALAMAZOO AND
ST. JOSEPH RIVER BASINS...BUT SHOULD CONTINUE TO RECEDE AS WE HEAD
THROUGH THE WEEK.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

ADDITIONAL STORMS ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...MAINLY
DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT
ANTICIPATED.
