...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* A PORTION OF SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
  AREAS...GENESEE...LAPEER...LIVINGSTON...MACOMB...OAKLAND...
  SHIAWASSEE...ST. CLAIR...WASHTENAW AND WAYNE.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING

* A GENERAL 2 TO 4 INCH RAINFALL OCCURRED FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT
  THROUGH THURSDAY WITH THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION IN THE URBANIZED
  AREA OF WAYNE...OAKLAND...AND MACOMB COUNTIES. THIS RAINFALL LED
  TO SOME FLOODING IN THE URBANIZED AREAS OF METRO DETROIT. ONE TO
  INCHES FELL ELSEWHERE.

* RAIN WILL PERSIST ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT TODAY. ADDITIONAL
  RAINFALL AMOUNTS AROUND AN INCH WITH SOME LOCALIZED AMOUNTS IN
  EXCESS OF TWO INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BETWEEN EARLY THIS MORNING AND
  EARLY THIS EVENING. WITH ALREADY SATURATED SOILS...THIS
  ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL MAKE THE REGION SUSCEPTIBLE TO MORE
  FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD
WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

   Clinton River


.Heavy rainfall that occurred earlier Thursday caused the
river to exceed flood stage. The river has dropped
significantly overnight. Additional rainfall is expected today,
but it may not lead to additional flooding on the
river.

Flood warning discontinued for
Clinton River in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township..
* At 4 AM Friday the stage is 14.1 feet and falling.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* The river fell below flood stage at 6 PM Thursday and will continue
  to fall...therefore...the warning has been cancelled.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AS A SLOW
MOVING UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKS ACROSS THE AREA.
LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORM
THIS WEEKEND.

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NEEDED TODAY OR TONIGHT.

Heavy rainfall this morning has pushed the Rouge river and part of the Clinton River
systems to high levels.  Additional rainfall is likely later today and tonight.
The additional rainfall maybe spread out in time just enough to keep the rivers near
but not above flood stage.  There is still a chance though these rivers may briefly
exceed minor flood stage. Today through Friday.
