THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM FRIDAY TO 4 PM EST
SATURDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

 * SNOW BEGINS AROUND THE FRIDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

 * WIND AND SNOW INCREASE SHARPLY LATER FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY.

 * TOTAL SNOW 6 TO 10 INCHES...WELL OVER A FOOT LOCALLY.

 * VISIBILITY SOMETIMES DOWN TO A FEW CAR LENGTHS.

 * DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS BEGINNING FRIDAY EVENING.


IMPACTS...

 * HAZARDOUS TRAVEL FROM MID MORNING FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY
   EVENING.

 * ACCIDENTS AND SLIDEOFFS DUE TO SLIPPY ROAD AND LOW
   VISIBILITIES.

 * CLOSURES AND CANCELLATIONS

* TIME TO FROSTBITE UNDER 30 MINUTES STARTING FRIDAY EVENING.

 * THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REMINDS MOTORISTS

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST LOWER
MICHIGAN.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH TODAY...ALTHOUGH
ANOTHER 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED TOWARD THE
LAKESHORE BENEATH THE HEAVIER BANDS. TRAVEL WILL CONTINUE TO
IMPACTED BY SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY ROADS WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY
RISING TO AROUND 20 TODAY.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL RAMP UP SIGNIFICANTLY ONCE AGAIN
AROUND THE MORNING RUSH ON FRIDAY. STRONG WINDS ON FRIDAY WILL
PUSH THE SNOW BANDS MUCH FURTHER INLAND. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL
RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS AT
TIMES ON FRIDAY. THE SNOW WILL CONCENTRATE TOWARD THE LAKESHORE
ONCE AGAIN FRIDAY NIGHT WITH CONTINUED TRAVEL IMPACTS.

EVEN COLDER AIR WILL SURGE INTO THE REGION FOR FRIDAY NIGHT INTO
SATURDAY NIGHT. BELOW ZERO LOW TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED AWAY FROM
LAKE MICHIGAN.
