...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST
THURSDAY...

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

 * SNOW SHOWERS WILL BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD AND INTENSE THIS
   EVENING. THE BANDS OF SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH WEDNESDAY
   NIGHT.

 * SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES...WITH SNOW RATES IN EXCESS OF AN
   INCH PER HOUR POSSIBLE.

 * WINDS FROM THE NORTHWEST OCCASIONALLY GUSTING TO 35 MPH...
   PRODUCING PERIODS OF NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY TONIGHT THROUGH
   WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

 * THIS WILL BE A PROLONGED SNOW EVENT...THROUGH THURSDAY
   MORNING. TOTAL. MOST LOCATIONS SHOULD SEE IN EXCESS OF A FOOT
   OF SNOW BY THURSDAY MORNING.

IMPACTS...

 * ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY STARTING THIS
   AFTERNOON.

 * TODAYS EVENING COMMUTE WILL BE IMPACTED WITH SLOW AND
   HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. ADDITIONAL COMMUTES INTO THURSDAY MORNING
   WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED. THIS INCLUDES PORTIONS OF INTERSTATES
   94 AND 196 ALONG WITH ROUTE 31. AN INCREASED RISK FOR
   MULTIPLE VEHICLE PILEUPS WILL EXIST.

 * ROAD SALT WILL BECOME LESS EFFECTIVE INTO TONIGHT AS
   TEMPERATURES DROP INTO THE TEENS. THE COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE
   OVER THE REGION THROUGH THURSDAY.

CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE CTA BELOW AND DELETE THE REST

 * THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REMINDS MOTORISTS
   TO ADJUST SPEEDS BASED ON THE CONDITIONS... AND TO TAKE IT

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST LOWER
MICHIGAN.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY TODAY AND
BECOME HEAVY TONIGHT. HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
TONIGHT TOWARD LAKE MICHIGAN DUE TO WHITEOUTS IN THE HEAVIER SNOW
BANDS AND SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY ROADS WITH TEMPERATURES
FALLING INTO THE TEENS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS WILL CONTINUE WEDNESDAY...WEDNESDAY
NIGHT AND INTO THURSDAY MORNING TOWARDS LAKE MICHIGAN. TRAVEL WILL
CONTINUE TO BE AFFECTED BY LIMITED VISIBILITY...BLOWING SNOW AND
SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS. PORTIONS OF THE LAKESHORE COULD SEE 6 TO
AS MUCH AS 12 INCHES OF SNOW IN SPOTS BY MIDDAY THURSDAY.

COLD AIR WILL INFILTRATE THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY WITH HIGHS IN THE
TEENS AND WIND CHILL VALUES AROUND ZERO. EVEN COLDER AIR IS
EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT INTO THE WEEKEND WITH WIND CHILL READINGS
DROPPING TOWARDS 15 BELOW.

ICE JAMS ON AREA RIVERS MAY BECOME AN ISSUE FROM WEDNESDAY INTO
THE WEEKEND AS COLD AIR REMAINS IN PLACE.
