This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of southwest Lower
Michigan.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

No hazardous weather is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

A strong spring storm system will head toward the Great Lakes over
the weekend. This will bring the rain with embedded thunderstorms
into the area by Saturday night. The rain and embedded
thunderstorms will continue into Monday morning. By then most
areas of Southwest Michigan should expect between 1 and 3 inches
of rain. Some areas may see more than 3 inches of rain. This will
result in localized flooding of flood prone area.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY
MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Michigan, south central
  Michigan, southwest Michigan, and west central Michigan,
  including the following areas, in central Michigan, Gratiot,
  Isabella, Mecosta, and Montcalm. In south central Michigan,
  Clinton, Eaton, and Ionia. In southwest Michigan, Allegan,
  Barry, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ottawa, and Van Buren. In west central
  Michigan, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.

* From Saturday afternoon through Monday morning

* Periods of rain Saturday afternoon through Monday morning could
  result in rainfall totals of 2-4 inches. Locally higher amounts
  cannot be ruled out in or near thunderstorm development.

* Low lying areas prone to flooding may accumulate standing water
  as steadier rain falls late Saturday through early Monday. Low
  lying farm land and roadways could become flooded for a period
  of time into early next week. Drivers are reminded not to drive
  over flooded roadways as water depth and road conditions under
  water are unknown.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood
watch for the following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...

  Grand River Near Comstock Park affecting Kent County
  Sycamore Creek At Holt affecting Ingham County
  Looking Glass River Near Eagle affecting Clinton County
  Portage River Near Vicksburg affecting Kalamazoo County

.NOTE: River forecasts are based on a 72 hour precipitation
forecast valid through Monday morning. Widespread rain moves into the
region later this weekend and river rises will occur. Currently
there is a general 2"-3" being used as a basis for these river
rises. A possibility exists for higher rainfall totals across a
narrow region which may impact these crests. Stay tuned to the latest
forecast updates as we approach this rainfall event.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A flood watch means flooding is possible but not imminent.  If you
are in the watch area remain alert to possible flooding. Residents
and those with interests near the river should monitor rising water
levels and be prepared for possible flood warnings.  Report observed
flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request
they pass this information to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a
* Flood Watch for
  the Portage River Near Vicksburg
* from Sunday morning until further notice.
* At 11:00 AM Friday the stage was estimated at 4.9 feet.
* Minor Flooding is possible.
* Bankfull stage is 5.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Forecast, flood stage may be reached by Sunday morning.  The river
  is forecast to reach a maximum stage of 5.7 feet by  Monday
  evening.
* Impact, at 6.0 feet...Expect minor basement flooding of several
  homes built adjacent to the river.
