FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI
1146 AM EDT SUN AUG 28 2016

...The flood warning continues for the following rivers in Southwest
Lower Michigan...

  Portage River Near Vicksburg affecting Kalamazoo County

.About one half inch of rain fell yesterday in the Portage River basin.
It is possible that the river will rise above minor flood stage as a
result. The flood warning will continue until the river is verfied to
have fallen below flood stage. The following forecast is based on
observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Motorists should not attempt to drive around
barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

information.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Portage River Near Vicksburg.
* until Monday afternoon.
* at  7:00 AM Saturday the stage was 5.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Forecast, the river is expected to rise to just above flood stage
  this afternoon.
* Impact, at 5.0 feet...Expect overflows into wooded areas and
  farmland adjacent to the river.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 5.0 feet
  on Apr 20 2013.

AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM IS POSSIBLE THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON FROM
INTERSTATE 96 TO THE SOUTH. SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED. BRIEF
HEAVY RAIN AND CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING STRIKES WILL BE THE MAIN
THREAT.

PATCHY FOG IS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING AND AGAIN TONIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN
TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT ALONG AND AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT.
