.One to two inches of rainfall overnight along with another one to two inches
of rain through Wednesday combined with snow melt is causing significant
rises on the rivers.

The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac has issued a

* Flood warning for
  the Rouge River in Detroit.
* From now until further notice.
* At 10 AM Tuesday the stage is 13.1 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast is to rise above flood stage by this evening...
  and crest around 17.5 feet tomorrow evening.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest
  of 16.4 feet on Jun 1 2015.

* From now until further notice.
* At 10 AM Tuesday the stage is 8.7 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast is to rise above flood stage by tonight...
  and crest around 10.6 feet tomorrow morning.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest
  of 10.3 feet on Sep 30 2016.

There will be a chance of thunderstorms today and tonight as a low
pressure system moves through ahead of a slowly advancing cold front.
These storms are not expected to be severe.

A flood watch is in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of southeast Michigan, including the following areas,
  Bay, Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb,
  Midland, Monroe, Oakland, Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St.
  Clair, Tuscola, Washtenaw, and Wayne.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Widespread rain will continue through Wednesday. Rainfall will be
  moderate in intensity at times. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 3
  inches are expected with additional water added to runoff from
  the complete melting of the snowpack.

* Urban, low lying and poor drainage areas prone to flooding will
  be most susceptible. Rises on area rivers, streams and creaks
  are expected, with the potential for minor flooding to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

There is a potential for flooding or near flooding along the
following rivers and creeks based on forecast average basin rainfall
of generally 1 to 2  inches and snowmelt Monday into Wednesday.
However...if rainfall (and snowmelt) amounts are more
or less then predicted...the potential for flooding will increase or
decrease accordingly.  If the likelihood of flooding becomes more
certain...then a flood warning would be issued.
