River or stream flows are elevated. Flooding is occurring on area rivers that are popular for waterfall viewing. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 900 AM CDT Wednesday, trained weather spotters reported heavy rain in the advisory area. Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional light rain less than a tenth of an inch is expected today. - Low lying trails and roads along creeks and river may be partially to completely inundated. Do not walk or drive through flood waters. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Grand Marais, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Grand Portage, Lutsen, Beaver Bay, Temperance River State Park, George Manitou State Park, Little Marais, Cascade River State Park, Eagle Mountain, Finland, Tettegouche State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park and southeastern Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Visitors to area waterfalls should be careful around rivers that will have slippery rocks, cliffs, and strong currents. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you can do so safely.
