URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN
853 PM CST SAT FEB 6 2016

...PERIODS OF WHITEOUT CONDITIONS EXPECTED LATE SUNDAY INTO EARLY
MONDAY ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

.A BLIZZARD WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL
MINNESOTA INCLUDING THE CITIES OF REDWOOD FALLS...NEW ULM...
MANKATO...FAIRMONT...AND ALBERT LEA. THIS ALSO INCLUDES
INTERSTATES 35 AND 90. DEEP SNOW PACK AND ADDITIONAL LIGHT SNOW
SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT WILL COMBINE WITH WIND GUSTS OF 45 TO
55 MPH TO PRODUCE WIDESPREAD BLOWING SNOW AND WHITEOUT CONDITIONS
AT TIMES. DIFFICULT TRAVEL IS LIKELY AND ROAD CLOSURES ARE
POSSIBLE.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA
INCLUDING THE CITIES OF WILLMAR...MADISON...BENSON...MORRIS...AND
ALEXANDRIA. A LESS IMPRESSIVE SNOW PACK AND RAINFALL ON SATURDAY
WILL MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR WIDESPREAD BLOWING SNOW TO
MATERIALIZE LATE SUNDAY...DESPITE WIND GUSTS OF 45 TO 55 MPH AND
LIGHT SNOW. SCATTERED AREAS OF WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ARE STILL
POSSIBLE...AND IF IT IS MORE WIDESPREAD THAN CURRENTLY ANTICIPATED
AN UPGRADE TO A BLIZZARD WARNING WILL BE NECESSARY.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS EAST OF THE
WINTER STORM AND BLIZZARD WARNINGS FOR LIGHT SNOW AND AREAS OF
BLOWING SNOW DEVELOPING LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND LASTING THROUGH
MONDAY MORNING. WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP OVER THE ADVISORY AREA.

* EXPECT SNOW TO DEVELOP AROUND 3 PM SUNDAY AND THEN DIMINISH
  AROUND NOON MONDAY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

* WINDS GUSTING AS HIGH AS 45 MPH WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING SNOW.

* PLAN ON SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS PERIODS OF SNOW WILL
CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED
ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
