URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN

...HEAVY SNOW LIKELY ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND
WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN ON WEDNESDAY...

.A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM
LONG PRAIRIE TO CAMBRIDGE IN MINNESOTA...AND FOR AREAS ALONG AND
NORTH OF HIGHWAY 8 IN WISCONSIN...INCLUDING LUCK...RICE LAKE AND
LADYSMITH.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS ALSO IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT JUST TO THE WEST AND SOUTH OF THE WARNING
AREA...STRETCHING FROM MORRIS AND ALEXANDRIA THROUGH ST. CLOUD...
THE NORTH TWIN CITIES METRO TO CHIPPEWA FALLS AND CORNELL IN
WISCONSIN.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND ADJOINING AREAS OF
WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN LATE TONIGHT AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM AND WARM FRONT. THE SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES
ON WEDNESDAY BEFORE DIMINISHING FROM WEST TO EAST WEDNESDAY
NIGHT. THE SNOW MAY TRANSITION TO RAIN OR AT LEAST MIX WITH RAIN
ON WEDNESDAY ACROSS THE NORTH TWIN CITIES METRO ON EASTWARD
THROUGH NEW RICHMOND...CHIPPEWA FALLS AND CORNELL. UNCERTAINTY
REMAINS ON THIS TRANSITION WHICH WILL IMPACT SNOW ACCUMULATION
AMOUNTS IN THESE AREAS.

OVERALL...SIX TO 10 INCHES OF WET SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED
ACROSS THE WARNING AREA WITH SOME 10 TO 12 INCH AMOUNTS POSSIBLE
FROM LAKE MILLE LACS THROUGH RICE LAKE AND LADYSMITH IN
WISCONSIN. SNOW AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE
ADVISORY AREA.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY
TO 4 AM CDT THURSDAY.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT...AND CONTINUE THROUGH
  MUCH OF THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW MAY
  MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO RAIN DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY BEFORE
  CHANGING BACK TO ALL SNOW WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE SNOW WILL
  TAPER OFF EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...3 TO 5 INCHES...BUT THIS IS HIGHLY
  DEPENDENT ON HOW MUCH RAIN OCCURS ON WEDNESDAY.

* OTHER IMPACTS...TRAVEL MAY BE HAZARDOUS AT TIMES FROM LATE
  TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. THIS WILL BE A WET
  SNOW WHICH WILL BE DIFFICULT TO SHOVEL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.

TO 2 INCHES ARE LIKELY.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

ACCUMULATING SNOW IS LIKELY WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACROSS
CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN. A WINTER
STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS NORTH AND EAST OF ST. CLOUD...
AS WELL AS ALONG HIGHWAY 8 IN WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN...FOR
ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 INCHES OR MORE. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY BORDERS
THE WARNING AREA TO THE WEST AND SOUTH FOR ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6
INCHES. FARTHER SOUTH WHERE WARMER TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW FOR A
PERIOD OF RAIN ON WEDNESDAY...INCLUDING WILLMAR THROUGH THE TWIN
CITIES...TO EAU CLAIRE...A SLOPPY 1-3 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION IS
POSSIBLE.
