URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN

...VERY COLD WIND CHILLS TONIGHT...
...NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
SUNDAY...

.A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WEST CENTRAL
WISCONSIN AND SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA FOR TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING. COLD TEMPERATURES AND BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS WILL COMBINE
TO PRODUCE WIND CHILL READINGS FROM 25 TO 30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO
IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MUCH OF WEST CENTRAL
THROUGH SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA FOR SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY
MORNING. THE WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM BENSON TO
MANKATO TO KEISTER. SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA
SATURDAY EVENING AND PERSIST INTO SUNDAY MORNING. WHILE THIS
OCCURS...SOUTHEAST WINDS FROM 20 TO 25 MPH WILL DEVELOP ALONG
WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 MPH. THE FALLING SNOW AND WIND WILL LEAD
TO CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH NEAR WHITEOUT
CONDITIONS. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS THE WATCH AREA ARE EXPECTED TO
BE IN THE 4 TO 6 INCH RANGE.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO
8 AM CST SATURDAY.

* EXPECT WIND CHILLS TO RANGE FROM 25 TO 30 BELOW ZERO BETWEEN 6
  PM THIS EVENING AND 7 AM SATURDAY...WITH THE COLDEST WIND CHILLS
  OCCURRING DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON SATURDAY.

* THE COLD WIND CHILLS WILL CAUSE FROSTBITE IN AS LITTLE AS 30
  MINUTES TO EXPOSED SKIN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT COLD AIR AND THE WIND WILL
COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. FROST BITE AND HYPOTHERMIA
CAN OCCUR IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT
AND GLOVES.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

SNOW WILL DEVELOP SATURDAY NIGHT AND PERSIST INTO SUNDAY. TOTAL
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.
