The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach the Red or Unhealthy category. * WHERE...Southeastern Minnesota. * WHEN...Until 11 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Some members of the general public may experience health effects. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, may experience health effects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy smoke will linger across southern Minnesota into this evening. This band of smoke will slowly drift to the south and air quality will begin improving from north to south within the alert area. Air quality should improve across southern Minnesota by the end of the day. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion.
