THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN AND
CENTRAL MISSOURI AS WELL AS WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS EARLY THIS MORNING.
THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT ACROSS
NORTHEAST MISSOURI AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS. ORGANIZED SEVERE
WEATHER IS NOT CURRENTLY ANTICIPATED.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING AND A HEAT ADVISORY HAVE BEEN ISSUED
BECAUSE DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY ARE BUILDING INTO
THE REGION.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING AND HEAT ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF HEAT AND
HUMIDITY. HEAT INDEX VALUES MAY REACH 105 DEGREES AT TIMES DURING
THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS.

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTHEAST
MISSOURI AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS FRIDAY MORNING AND AGAIN FRIDAY
NIGHT.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS FROM MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
WEDNESDAY.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT
SUNDAY...

* TIMING...DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE
  FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK AND INTO THE UPCOMING WEEKEND.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...UP TO 107 DUE TO TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S
  AND DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER 70S.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH
  HUMIDITY WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT-RELATED STRESS
  AND ILLNESS. THE VERY YOUNG...THE ELDERLY...THOSE WITHOUT AIR
  CONDITIONING...AND THOSE PARTICIPATING IN STRENUOUS OUTDOOR
  ACTIVITIES WILL BE THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE. ALSO...CAR INTERIORS
  WILL REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. BEAT
  THE HEAT...CHECK THE BACKSEAT! NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS
  UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE...NOT EVEN FOR A MINUTE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO THE EARLY MORNING
OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND
HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY. CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
