Safety message:  Never drive any vehicle through flooded areas.
The water may be too deep to allow for safe passage.

  the Mississippi River at St. Louis.
* At  8:30 PM Monday the stage was 34.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring.
* Forecast:  The river will fall below flood stage by next Monday afternoon.

CENTRAL MISSOURI AS WELL AS WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT

THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT THE AREA ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE
70...ESPECIALLY NORTHERN MISSOURI AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS. THERE
IS A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE AREA.

MAJOR FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ON ALL POINTS OF THE ILLINOIS RIVER
FROM LA GRANGE TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER THROUGH
THE MIDDLE OF THIS WEEK.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

SEVERAL ROUNDS OF THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE REGION
TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND
ADDITIONAL FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN
EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE AREA.

THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE FOR PARTS OF THE AREA
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

MAJOR FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ON ALL POINTS ALONG THE ILLINOIS
RIVER FROM LA GRANGE TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THIS WEEK.

  THE POTENTIAL OF FLASH FLOODING TO THE REGION TONIGHT THROUGH
  WEDNESDAY. WIDESPREAD TWO DAY RAINFALL TOTALS OF 2 TO 4
  INCHES ARE LIKELY...WITH LOCALIZED AMOUNTS EXCEEDING 5
  INCHES.

* HEAVY RAINFALL WILL RESULT IN FLOODING OF LOW LYING OR POOR
  DRAINAGE AREAS...AND ULTIMATELY DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODING ON
  SMALLER CREEKS AND STREAMS. SIGNIFICANT RISES ON LARGER
  STREAMS AND RIVERS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT
IMMINENT IN THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE
AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
CHECK YOUR PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE IN
FLOOD PRONE AREAS. STAY INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR QUICK ACTION
