URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE

436 AM EDT FRI MAR 27 2015

...FREEZING TEMPERATURES TONIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF THE MOUNTAINS OF
NORTH CAROLINA AND EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA...

.IN THE WAKE OF A STRONG COLD FRONT...A DEEP TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE ALOFT WILL BRING DOWN VERY COLD AIR FROM THE NORTHWEST
TONIGHT. LOW TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA
WILL FALL BELOW FREEZING DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON
SATURDAY. THE AIR MASS THAT WILL SETTLE OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND THE
WESTERN CAROLINAS ON SATURDAY WILL BE MORE TYPICAL OF JANUARY
THAN OF LATE MARCH. TEMPERATURES AT THE RIDGETOPS AND MOUNTAIN
PEAKS WILL PROBABLY NOT GET ABOVE FREEZING DURING THE DAY ON
SATURDAY. THAT WILL SET UP AN EVEN COLDER NIGHT FOR SATURDAY
NIGHT WITH TEMPERATURES ONCE AGAIN DIPPING BELOW FREEZING ACROSS
A LARGER AREA...INCLUDING THE PIEDMONT AND FOOTHILLS OF THE
CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA. UNLESS THE FORECAST CHANGES...A
FREEZE WATCH MAY BE ISSUED FOR SATURDAY NIGHT FOR MUCH OF THE
AREA.

A FREEZE WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
NOON EDT SATURDAY...FOR THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS OF
NORTH CAROLINA...AND RABUN COUNTY GEORGIA.

* LOCATIONS...THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA
  AND RABUN COUNTY GEORGIA.

* TEMPERATURES...LOWS IN THE MID 20S. HIGHS SATURDAY ONLY IN THE
  UPPER 30S IN THE VALLEYS.

* IMPACTS...VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL KILL SENSITIVE VEGETATION
  THAT HAS ALREADY STARTED TO GROW THIS SEASON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR

NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A
PASSING COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST
GEORGIA FROM THE WEST TONIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT WITH THE STORMS
WILL BE CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

..FRIDAY...NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
..SATURDAY...FREEZE POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES MAY FALL TO FREEZING
EARLY SATURDAY OVER SOME LOCATIONS. FROST IS ALSO POSSIBLE IN
SHELTERED AREAS WHICH MAY DAMAGE TENDER VEGETATION.
..SUNDAY...FREEZE LIKELY. MINIMUM TEMPERATURES EARLY SUNDAY
MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE MID 20S TO AROUND 30. TENDER
VEGETATION MAY BE DAMAGED.
