* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  OUTER BANKS DARE COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...
  OUTER BANKS HYDE COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...

* UNTIL 500 PM EDT

* AT 306 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED
  HEAVY RAIN WHICH WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA.
  3 TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN AS OF 3 PM...WITH THE HEAVIEST
  AMOUNTS NEAR FRISCO. ADDITIONAL RAIN CONTINUES TO DEVELOP AND MOVE
  INTO THE OUTER BANKS FROM THE SOUTH.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE... SOUTHERN
  SHORES...MANTEO...DUCK...WANCHESE...AVALON PIER...HATTERAS FERRY
  TERMINAL...JOCKEYS RIDGE STATE PARK...OCRACOKE...BODIE ISLAND
  LIGHTHOUSE...NAGS HEAD FISHING PIER...OUTER BANKS FISHING
  PIER...WRIGHT BROTHERS NATIONAL MONUMENT...AVON PIER AND CAPE
  HATTERAS LIGHTHOUSE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

.THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION BONNIE WILL SLOWLY APPROACH
FROM THE SOUTHWEST TODAY, LEADING TO CONTINUED SOUTHEASTERLY
SWELLS IMPACTING THE COAST. THIS WILL YIELD THE THREAT OF
DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.

* TIMING AND TIDES...LOW TIDE AROUND 900 PM THIS EVENING. HIGHEST
  THREAT EXPECTED A FEW HOURS BEFORE AND AFTER LOW TIDE.

* SURF HEIGHT...3 TO 4 FEET.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS...
JETTIES AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH
PATROL. PAY ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS POSTED NEAR BEACH
ACCESS POINTS AND LIFEGUARD STATIONS.

IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT PANIC. REMAIN CALM
AND BEGIN TO SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE. ONCE YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE
FORCE OF THE RIP CURRENT...BEGIN TO SWIM BACK TO THE BEACH. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT...SINCE IT CAN
EXHAUST AND EVEN KILL THE STRONGEST SWIMMER.
