...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 6 PM EDT SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Heat Advisory,
which is in effect from noon to 6 PM EDT Saturday.

* Heat Index Values...In the mid 90s.

* Timing...Rest of this afternoon into early this evening.
  Saturday afternoon into early Saturday evening.

* Impacts...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
  outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Extreme heat can cause
  illness and death among the at-risk population who can not
  stay cool.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and
humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees
for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any
length of time.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut,
northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday Night through Monday...Heavy showers and thunderstorms are
likely Saturday night and Sunday with a chance of additional
thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday. Wind gusts of at 58 mph are
possible along with heavy rain and frequent lightning in thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the local area under
a slight risk for severe thunderstorms from Saturday evening through
Sunday night.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
