THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT WAS ISSUED BY THE OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY.

AN AIR QUALITY ALERT FOR OZONE HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THURSDAY...
JULY 28TH...FOR THE OKLAHOMA CITY METROPOLITAN AREA DUE TO
EXPECTED HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF OZONE.

PERSONS WITH EXISTING HEART OR RESPIRATORY AILMENTS SHOULD REDUCE
PHYSICAL EXERTION AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITY.

THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM BY
REDUCING VEHICLE MILES TRAVELED BY RIDING THE BUS...CARPOOLING...OR
AVOIDING UNNECESSARY TRIPS.  THE PUBLIC IS ALSO ASKED TO AVOID
REFUELING DURING THE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS...AND TO
AVOID THE USE OF TWO CYCLE ENGINES SUCH AS LAWN MOWERS...
MOTORCYCLES...WEEDEATERS...AND OUTBOARD ENGINES. IT IS ALSO ADVISED
TO LIMIT OUTDOOR BURNING.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN...
WESTERN...CENTRAL...AND SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA...AND WESTERN
NORTH TEXAS.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

.THUNDERSTORMS...
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE TODAY
ACROSS OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS. MOST OF THE THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY DURING THE DAY IS EXPECTED TO BE ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF
INTERSTATE 44. THE STRONGER STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF WIND GUSTS TO
50 MPH... ALONG WITH HEAVY RAINFALL AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING.

BY LATE TODAY... A COMPLEX OF STORMS IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS
EASTERN COLORADO INTO NORTHWEST KANSAS. THIS COMPLEX WILL MOVE
SOUTHEAST AND COULD APPROACH OR MOVE INTO FAR NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA
AFTER 3 AM. SOME WIND GUSTS TO NEAR 60 MPH... ALONG WITH
MARGINALLY SEVERE HAIL AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE
WITH THIS COMPLEX OF STORMS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...

.THUNDERSTORMS...
A COMPLEX OF STORMS IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SOUTH OUT OF KANSAS
INTO NORTHERN OKLAHOMA LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THIS ACTIVITY... ALONG
WITH HEAVY RAINFALL.

THUNDERSTORMS CHANCES CONTINUE ACROSS OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH
TEXAS EACH DAY THROUGH SUNDAY. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND GUSTY
WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS.
