* STABILITY...MID AND HIGH LEVEL HAINES 5 TO 6 AT
  TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTH HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA. VERY
  UNSTABLE CONDITIONS COULD PROMOTE COLUMN GROWTH TO 10 TO 12
  THOUSAND FEET MSL OR GREATER UNDER INTENSE BURNING CONDITIONS.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...HUMIDITY VALUES GENERALLY 12 TO 22 PERCENT
  THROUGH EARLY EVENING. VALUES SLOWLY RISING TO 25 TO 35 PERCENT
  BY LATE EVENING IN THE LOWLANDS...BUT AS LOW AS 15 PERCENT ON
  RIDGES.

* WIND...GUSTY AFTERNOON AND EVENING WIND THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
  LATE THIS EVENING. SUSTAINED NORTH TO NORTHWEST WIND 6 TO 12 MPH
  WITH GUSTS TO 20 MPH EXPECTED FOR EXPOSED AREAS.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF AN HOT...DRY...AND UNSTABLE
  ENVIRONMENT...GUSTY WINDS...AND EXTREMELY VERY DRY FUELS MAY
  RESULT IN RAPID GROWTH OF NEW OR EXISTING FIRES.

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT
SATURDAY.

* TIMING: THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.

* HIGH TEMPERATURES: 95 TO 100 DEGREES. HOTTEST IN THE CENTRAL
  AND SOUTHERN WILLAMETTE VALLEY AND CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE.

* LOW TEMPERATURES: 60 TO 65 DEGREES.

* DURATION: SATURDAY SHOULD BE THE LAST VERY HOT DAY. TEMPERATURES
  WILL GRADUALLY COOL EACH DAY WITH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES BELOW 90
  DEGREES BY TUESDAY.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: EUGENE...SPRINGFIELD...CORVALLIS...
  ALBANY...ODELL...SALEM...MCMINNVILLE...HILLSBORO...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1.
