THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA AND
NORTHEASTERN WYOMING.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

WITH VERY WARM TEMPERATURES...LOW HUMIDITY...AND INCREASING
SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL RESULT CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS ACROSS THE
AREA TODAY.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO NORTHEAST WYOMING AND NORTHWEST
SOUTH DAKOTA LATE TONIGHT. NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH...WITH
GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH WILL OCCUR BEHIND THE COLD FRONT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

THE COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF WESTERN SOUTH
DAKOTA AND SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA WEDNESDAY MORNING. NORTHWEST
WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH...WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH WILL OCCUR
BEHIND THE COLD FRONT. THE STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE INTO
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND LOW
RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

GUSTY WINDS...VERY LOW HUMIDITY...AND COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE FOR
WYOMING FIRE WEATHER ZONES 259...297...298...AND 299...AND SOUTH
DAKOTA FIRE ZONES 260...261...262...263...264...265...AND 266...

.AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS WILL BRING VERY
WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS TO THE AREA TODAY...WITH INCREASING
SOUTHERLY WINDS. THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BREAK DOWN TONIGHT
INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING...ALLOWING A STRONG COLD FRONT TO MOVE
THROUGH THE AREA.

FOR TODAY...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID 70S TO MID 80S
THE MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP TO 10 TO 15 PERCENT THIS
AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ACROSS NORTHEAST
WYOMING...WHERE SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH AND GUSTS TO
AROUND 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. FURTHER
EAST ACROSS WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA...WINDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE AS
STRONG...BUT GUSTS OF 25 TO 30 MPH ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON.
WINDS WILL DECREASE THIS EVENING...HOWEVER POOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY
RECOVERY IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE AREA LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
MORNING. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST BEHIND THE COLD FRONT...WITH
GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH. THE STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH
EARLY WEDNESDAY EVENING. MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL BE AROUND 15 PERCENT

THIS AFTERNOON. EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A VERY LOW
MOISTURE CONTENT OF GRASSES...AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL
ON THE GROUND...INDICATE THAT CRITICAL BURNING CONDITIONS EXIST.
A FIRE WILL START EASILY AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME LARGE
AND SPREAD QUICKLY BECOMING ERRATIC WITH EXTREME BEHAVIORAL
CHARACTERISTICS. NO OUTDOOR BURNING SHOULD TAKE PLACE.

THE OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER
