URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE NORTHERN HALF OF MIDDLE
TENNESSEE TODAY THROUGH EARLY MONDAY MORNING...

.A WEATHER SYSTEM MOVING IN FROM THE WEST WILL SPREAD A WINTRY
MIX OF SNOW...SLEET AND SOME FREEZING RAIN ACROSS AREAS GENERALLY
ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 40...SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT...BEFORE
CHANGING TO RAIN.

THE SNOW WILL OCCUR FIRST...WITH AREAS ALONG I-40 EXPECTED TO
HAVE AROUND 1 INCH OF SNOW...WITH 2 TO 3 INCH AMOUNTS NEAR THE
KENTUCKY BORDER...AND A FEW LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS FOR THE
HIGHLAND RIM AND UPPER CUMBERLAND.

THE TRANSITION FROM SNOW TO A WINTRY MIX WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
AREA FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN MAY OCCUR DURING THE
TRANSITION...CAUSING SOME ICY SPOTS. AS WARMER AIR CONTINUES
MOVING INTO THE AREA...PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER TO ALL RAIN.

  AREA DUE TO A WINTRY MIX OF SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW...WITH AROUND 3 INCHES FOR
  THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND ALONG THE KENTUCKY BORDER. AROUND ONE
  TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE FROM FREEZING RAIN IS POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR
FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.

TENNESSEE.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY UNTIL
6 AM MONDAY MORNING. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO START DEVELOPING OVER
NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE BY LATE MORNING AND BECOME
WIDESPREAD DURING THE AFTERNOON. HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL
DEVELOP AS MANY ROADS BECOME SNOW COVERED. LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATIONS
ARE ALSO POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO AVERAGE BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES...WITH SOME LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

ROAD CONDITIONS SHOULD GRADUALLY IMPROVE LATE TONIGHT...AS THE
AIR TEMPERATURE WARMS SLOWLY FROM THE LOWER 30S INTO THE MIDDLE
30S BY SUNRISE MONDAY. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO ALL
RAIN BY SUNRISE MONDAY.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
