the Missouri Bootheel...North Mississippi...and West Tennessee.

Heat indices of 104 to 109 degrees are forecast across the entire
Midsouth today. A Heat Advisory is in effect through early this
evening.

There is a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms today and
tonight. Damaging winds and brief heavy rain leading to localized
flash flooding are the main threats.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* HEAT INDEX READINGS...104 to 109 degrees.

* TIMING...Peak index values likely 1 PM CDT through 5 PM CDT
  Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...These conditions will lead to an increased risk of
  heat-related illnesses. Heat stroke and dehydration will be
  possible for those performing strenuous outdoor activities.
  The interior of a vehicle can reach lethal temperatures in a
  short period of time.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
