URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MORRISTOWN TN
702 AM EST WED FEB 10 2016

...SNOW SHOWERS SLOWLY DIMINISHING ACROSS THE AREA TODAY... ...
THE HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY..SO DRIVE
SAFELY...

.DEEP UPPER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF OF THE
NATION WILL LIFT NORTHEAST AWAY FROM THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS
TODAY AND TONIGHT. THE SNOW SHOWER ACTIVITY WILL SLOWLY END
ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. IN THE VALLEY...MOSTLY LOCALIZED LIGHT
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED UP TO 1 INCH. HOWEVER...IN THE
EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS AND MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA...
MORE SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS STILL POSSIBLE WITH ADDITIONAL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES. THE HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS WILL
REDUCE VISIBILITY...SO DRIVE SAFELY.

ADDITIONALLY...VERY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES WILL ACCOMPANY
THE SNOWS WITH READINGS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS IN THE VALLEY AND AS
COLD AS -5 TO -15 DEGREES IN THE MOUNTAINS TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY

  SHOWERS COULD PRODUCE UP TO AN INCH. THE HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS
  WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY...SO DRIVE SAFELY.

* TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS DIMINISHING THIS MORNING WITH FLURRIES
  THIS AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...THE SNOW COULD CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING...BUT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LIGHT.  DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED
ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW

...WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY...
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA...NORTHEAST
TENNESSEE..AND PLATEAU THROUGH WEDNESDAY...
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ELSEWHERE THROUGH TONIGHT...

ARCTIC AIR WILL CONTINUE TO PULL INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND
SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS TODAY. A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT
FROM THIS MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING FOR THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF THE FAR EASTERN TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS...AS WIND CHILLS
COULD DROP AS LOW AS 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.

PERIODS OF SNOW SHOWERS OR FLURRIES CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED TODAY.
VERY LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE VALLEY AND PLATEAU...WITH
SOME SLIGHTLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS OF A COUPLE INCHES OVER THE FAR
EASTERN TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST
VIRGINIA.

PLEASE REFER TO THE WINTER STORM WARNING AND ADVISORY PRODUCTS FOR
MORE DETAILS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...

THE COMBINATION OF BREEZY NORTHWEST WINDS AND BITTER COLD
TEMPERATURES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND
CHILL VALUES THURSDAY MORNING IN THE MOUNTAINS. A WIND CHILL
ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON ON THURSDAY.

A CLIPPER SYSTEM WILL BRING ANOTHER SHOT OF ARCTIC AIR INTO THE
REGION ON FRIDAY...AND SOME SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS TO THE AREA
THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. SOME LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS UP TO AN
INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTHEAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST
VIRGINIA...WITH A FEW HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS.

ANOTHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA LATE SUNDAY NIGHT WITH
ARCTIC AIR ALREADY IN PLACE...SNOW WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA FROM
SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST. SNOW MAY TRANSITION TO A RAIN/SNOW MIX FOR
LOCATIONS SOUTH OF I-40 ON MONDAY. THIS SYSTEM IS STILL SEVERAL
DAYS AWAY SO PLEASE CHECK BACK OFTER FOR THE LATEST UPDATES.
