...A HARD FREEZE EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT...

.A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL PASS SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE SOUTHERN
APPALACHIANS TONIGHT...ALLOWING MUCH COLDER AIR TO SETTLE OVER
THE REGION BY FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

SEVERAL HOURS OF AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES ARE LIKELY...WITH LOW
TEMPERATURES DROPPING INTO THE 20S ACROSS THE FREEZE WATCH AREA.
COLDER LOW TEMPERATURES...IN THE TEENS...WILL OCCUR OVER THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS BY SATURDAY MORNING. HOWEVER...NO BERRIES ARE
GROWING IN THOSE LOCATIONS...NOR ARE FRUIT TREES BLOOMING AT THIS
TIME.

LOW TEMPERATURES SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING MAY BE AS
COLD OR SLIGHTLY COLDER THAN SATURDAY MORNING...SO BE PREPARED
FOR A SECOND VERY COLD NIGHT.

SATURDAY MORNING...

* EVENT...A HARD FREEZE EXPECTED WITH LOWS IN THE 20S.

* TIMING...TEMPERATURES FALLING BELOW 32 DEGREES AFTER MIDNIGHT
  AND NOT WARMING ABOVE FREEZING UNTIL MID MORNING SATURDAY.

* IMPACTS...THE PROLONGED PERIOD OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES COULD
  KILL STRAWBERRY PLANTS...AND ALSO DAMAGE THE BLOOMS OF ANY
  FRUIT TREES IN THE WATCH AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE.
THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION
THAT ARE LEFT UNPROTECTED.

CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE EASTERN TENNESSEE VALLEY
AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. SHOWERS WILL
INCREASE WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE...BUT NO SEVERE
STORMS ARE ANTICIPATED.

A MUCH COLDER AIR MASS WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION LATE TONIGHT.
RAIN SHOWERS MAY CHANGE TO SNOW SHOWERS IN THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS
OF SOUTHWESTERN VIRGINIA AND NORTHEAST TENNESSEE BY FRIDAY
MORNING. HOWEVER...LITTLE TO NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

LINGERING RAIN SHOWERS FRIDAY WILL CHANGE TO SNOW SHOWERS FRIDAY
NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY. VERY LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE
POSSIBLE...MAINLY OVER SOUTHWESTERN VIRGINIA AND THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF EASTERN TENNESSEE FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING.
