...ARCTIC AIR WILL TURN RAIN INTO A WINTRY MIX THIS MORNING...

.COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST INTO THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS
TODAY. RAIN WILL CHANGE TO A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND
SLEET. THESE CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE
CHANGING OVER TO ALL SNOW.

AFTERNOON...

* EVENT...RAIN EARLY THEN A WINTRY MIX WITH FREEZING RAIN CHANGING
  TO SLEET AND SNOW. FREEZING RAIN ACCUMULATIONS LESS THAN QUARTER
  OF AN INCH. SLEET AND SNOW WITH ACCUMULATIONS GENERALLY 1 INCH OR
  LESS.

* TIMING...THE WINTRY MIX WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS
  AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...ROAD CONDITIONS WILL BECOME HAZARDOUS. WHEN
  TRAVELING...SLOW DOWN AND DRIVE WITH CAUTION. GIVE YOURSELF
  EXTRA ROOM BETWEEN YOU AND THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF YOU. THE ICE
  ACCUMULATIONS MAY DOWN TREES AND POWER LINES WITH LOCALIZED
  POWER OUTAGES POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...
AND/OR FREEZING RAIN ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING...BUT
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT.  DRIVING AND WALKING MAY
BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR
SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH
CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

THE COMBINATION OF SNOW MELT AND RAINFALL WILL ALLOW RIVER LEVELS
TO RISE AND THERE WILL BE THE POTENTIAL OF RIVER
FLOODING...ESPECIALLY ACROSS ACROSS SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA. VARIOUS
FLOOD WATCHES AND WARNING ARE IN EFFECT.

ALSO...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THIS MORNING.
ACCUMULATING ICE AND SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE
NORTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...SOUTHWEST VA AND THE EAST TN
MOUNTAINS. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH AND
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. PLEASE SEE THE
WINTER STORM WATCH...AND WARNING PRODUCTS FOR MORE DETAILS.

TONGIHT BEHIND THE SYSTEM...ANOTHER SURGE OF COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL
MOVE INTO THE EASTERN TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS.
LOWS WILL FALL INTO THE TEENS AND LOW 20S WITH WIND CHILLS IN THE
SINGLE DIGITS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
