THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

THE NEXT UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL TRIGGER ANOTHER COMPLEX OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA TODAY. A
FLASH FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED WITH 1 TO 3 INCH RAINFALL
AMOUNTS POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA...ESPECIALLY NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 10 WHERE CONDITIONS ARE MORE FAVORABLE FOR THE HIGHER
AMOUNTS. LOCALIZED HIGHER TOTALS ARE POSSIBLE WHERE STORMS
REPEATEDLY MOVE OVER THE SAME AREA...AND ALSO IF THE EVENT DRAGS
ON INTO THE EVENING HOURS. THE IS ALSO A RISK FOR SEVERE STORMS
AS WELL. DAMAGING WINDS... LARGE HAIL... AND TORNADOES ARE THE
PRIMARY THREATS.

A HIGHER THAN NORMAL RISK OF RIP CURRENTS IS EXPECTED THROUGH EARLY
THIS WEEK. IF GOING TO THE BEACH...SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD AND WELL
AWAY FROM JETTIES...GROINS...AND PIERS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION TUESDAY
THROUGH SUNDAY... WITH THE HIGHEST CHANCES OVER THE UPCOMING
WEEKEND AS A STORM SYSTEM APPROACHES FROM THE WEST.

A HIGHER THAN NORMAL RISK OF RIP CURRENTS IS EXPECTED THROUGH
EARLY THIS WEEK. IF GOING TO THE BEACH...SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD AND
WELL AWAY FROM JETTIES...GROINS...AND PIERS.

LEAD TO STRONG RIP CURRENTS THROUGH THIS EVENING. STAY AWAY FROM
JETTIES...PIERS AND ROCK GROINS WHERE THE RIP CURRENTS WILL BE
MORE SUSCEPTIBLE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SWIM...PLEASE DO NOT
GO IN THE WATER. THOSE THAT DO SHOULD ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.

CURRENTS ARE LIKELY IN THE SURF ZONE.

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS...
JETTIES AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS...BEACH PATROL...
FLAGS AND SIGNS. SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD.

IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT PANIC. YELL FOR
HELP. DO NOT EXHAUST YOURSELF AND STAY AFLOAT WHILE WAITING FOR
HELP. IF YOU HAVE TO SWIM OUT OF A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO
SHORE AND BACK TOWARD THE BEACH WHEN POSSIBLE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT AS YOU WILL TIRE QUICKLY.

THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON/GALVESTON HAS EXPANDED
THE

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH TO INCLUDE A PORTION OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS...
 INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...BRAZORIA...CHAMBERS...FORT
 BEND...GALVESTON...JACKSON...MATAGORDA AND WHARTON.

* FROM 11 AM CDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING

* AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL TRACK ACROSS THE STATE TODAY AND
  BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL.
  THE SOIL IS ALREADY SATURATED...SO ANY ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL
  WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING. THERE IS SOME UNCERTAINTY JUST HOW
  FAST THE SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT AND SOME LOCATIONS COULD SEE
  PRECIPITATION CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING.

* EXPECT 1 TO 3 INCH RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN THE WATCH
  AREA...ESPECIALLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 10 WHERE CONDITIONS ARE
  MORE FAVORABLE FOR THE HIGHER AMOUNTS. LOCALIZED HIGHER TOTALS
  ARE POSSIBLE WHERE STORMS REPEATEDLY MOVE OVER THE SAME
  AREA...AND ALSO IF THE EVENT DRAGS ON INTO THE LATE EVENING
  HOURS. THIS WATCH WILL NEED TO BE EXPANDED IN TIME IF IT DOES.

* IMPACTS...THE GROUND REMAINS SATURATED AND ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN
  IN A SHORT TIME PERIOD WILL RUN OFF AND CREATE FLASH FLOODING
  AND ADDITIONAL RISES ON ALREADY SWOLLEN RIVERS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
