...SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ALOFT WILL DROP SOUTHEASTWARD FROM THE
GREAT LAKES ACROSS THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION TONIGHT. MUCH
COLDER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION WITH THIS SYSTEM THIS
EVENING...CHANGING RAIN TO SNOW FROM HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE
EVENING INTO THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AFTER MIDNIGHT. BRISK NORTHWEST
WINDS AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT WILL ENHANCE SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET...ESPECIALLY ON NORTHWEST FACING
SLOPES. THE SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO EVENTUALLY DIMINISH BY
LATE SATURDAY EVENING.

* EVENT...SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES ARE
  EXPECTED...MAINLY ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACES...SUCH AS
  VEHICLES AND TREES.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL INITIALLY CHANGE TO SNOW LATE FRIDAY
  EVENING OR EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. OCCASIONAL SNOW SHOWERS CAN
  BE EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...DIMINISHING IN THE
  AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...DUE TO WARM GROUND TEMPERATURES...LIMITED SNOW
  ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED ON ROADWAYS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING...BUT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LIGHT.  DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED
ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE SOUTHEASTWARD
ACROSS THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING. THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...ALONG WITH MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES
FOR THE WEEKEND.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR TONIGHT AND SATURDAY
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND THE EAST
TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS...WHERE LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS DUE TO
SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS IS EXPECTED. ANY UNNECESSARY
TRAVEL OR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES...SUCH AS HIKING OR CAMPING IS
STRONGLY DISCOURAGED IN THESE AREAS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...

LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE ALSO EXPECTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NORTHEAST TENNESSEE BY MIDDAY SATURDAY...AS WELL AS CONTINUED
SNOWFALL ALONG THE MOUNTAINS OF EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST
VIRGINIA THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. IN ADDITION...OVERNIGHT
FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH MONDAY
MORNING.

SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED ON SATURDAY FOR SNOWFALL REPORTS
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
