...ENHANCED FIRE DANGER ON SUNDAY...

A MAINLY DRY COLD FRONT WILL PASS SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE REGION
OVERNIGHT FOLLOWED BY BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE ON SUNDAY. THE
GRADIENT BEHIND THE FRONT BETWEEN LOW PRESSURE WELL TO THE NORTH
AND THE HIGH TO THE WEST WILL CAUSE INCREASING NORTHWEST WINDS BY
SUNDAY MORNING. THESE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN STRONG AND
GUSTY ESPECIALLY ALONG AND JUST EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE INTO LATE
SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS IN COMBINATION WITH THE MIXING OF MUCH
DRIER AIR TO THE SURFACE AND HEATING WILL CAUSE SMALLER FUELS SUCH
AS LEAF LITTER AND GRASSES TO DRY FURTHER. THIS WILL LIKELY LEAD
TO ENHANCED FIRE DANGER ESPECIALLY BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON WHEN
NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING AS HIGH AS 35 MPH COULD RESULT IN RAPID
FIRE SPREAD.

OUTDOOR BURNING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED ESPECIALLY NEAR THE BLUE
RIDGE SUNDAY WHERE FIRES ARE MORE APT TO GET OUT OF CONTROL.
REMEMBER TO USE CAUTION WHEN DISCARDING ANY SMOKING MATERIALS ON
SUNDAY.
