...FORECAST FLOODING CHANGED FROM MINOR TO MODERATE SEVERITY FOR THE
FOLLOWING RIVERS IN WASHINGTON...
  SKYKOMISH RIVER NEAR GOLD BAR AFFECTING SNOHOMISH COUNTY.

.FLOOD BULLETIN NO. 26

THE SKYKOMISH RIVER NEAR GOLD BAR WILL HAVE MODERATE FLOODING THIS
MORNING. HEAVY RAIN OVER THE CASCADES IS FORECAST TO LAST SEVERAL MORE
HOURS FRIDAY MORNING...THEN TAPER IN THE AFTERNOON. IT IS POSSIBLE THE
RIVER WILL REACH OR EXCEED THE MAJOR FLOOD STAGE BY NOON TODAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE CARS...VANS...OR TRUCKS THROUGH FLOODED AREAS...THIS IS
THE CAUSE OF MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS IN WASHINGTON. BE ALERT FOR
RAPID CHANGES AND MONITOR DEVELOPMENTS BY LISTENING TO NOAA WEATHER
RADIO OR OTHER LOCAL MEDIA.

THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR
  THE SKYKOMISH RIVER NEAR GOLD BAR
* UNTIL SATURDAY MORNING.
* AT  7:30 AM FRIDAY THE STAGE WAS 16.6 FEET.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 15.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AND CREST NEAR 17.5 FEET
  AROUND 10 AM FRIDAY. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE TONIGHT.
* IMPACT...AT 17.0 FEET...THE SKYKOMISH RIVER WILL CAUSE FLOODING FROM
  NEAR INDEX DOWNSTREAM THROUGH SULTAN TO THE SNOQUALMIE.  FLOOD
  WATERS WILL COVER NUMEROUS ROADS...INCLUDING BEN HOWARD RD...
  INDEX-GALENA RD AND TUALCO LOOP RD.  FLOODING IN THE TOWN OF SULTAN
  WILL BEGIN.  A STAGE OF 17 FEET ON THE SKYKOMISH RIVER CORRESPONDS
  TO A PHASE 3 IN THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY FLOOD PROGRAM.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
  COUNTIES... SKAGIT...KING...LEWIS...MASON...PIERCE...
  SNOHOMISH...THURSTON.

* THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON

* HEAVY RAIN WILL OVER ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON TODAY AS A
  STRONG COLD FRONT MOVES SOUTH THROUGH THE AREA. THE FRONTAL BAND
  WILL BRING 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN TO THE WEST SLOPES OF THE
  CASCADES TODAY AS IT MOVES THROUGH. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL BE
  AROUND 5000 TO 6500 FEET AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT...FALLING
  QUICKLY TO AROUND 2500 FEET IN ITS WAKE.

* MANY RIVERS FLOWING OFF THE WEST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES ARE
  RUNNING HIGH...ESPECIALLY FROM KING COUNTY NORTHWARD. THE
  ADDITIONAL RAIN TODAY COULD DRIVE SOME OF THEM ABOVE FLOOD
  STAGE. WHERE FLOODING DOES OCCUR...IT IS EXPECTED TO BE
  RELATIVELY MINOR.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT OCCURRING.
MONITOR THE WEATHER AND BE READY TO ACT QUICKLY IF FLOODING IS
OBSERVED OR FLOOD WARNINGS ARE ISSUED.
