HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SEATTLE WA
351 AM PST MON NOV 24 2014

...HEAVY RAIN IN THE CASCADES TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT OR
WEDNESDAY COULD CAUSE SOME RIVERS TO FLOOD...

THREE TO SIX INCHES OF RAIN IS LIKELY ALONG THE WEST SLOPES OF
THE CASCADES LATE TODAY THROUGH MIDDAY WEDNESDAY...AS A STRONG
WARM FRONT MOVES INTO WESTERN WASHINGTON. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL
RISE TO AROUND 6500 FEET TONIGHT AND REMAIN BETWEEN 6500 AND
7500 FEET THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

THE RAINFALL AMOUNTS THAT ARE EXPECTED MEAN THAT FLOODING IS
POSSIBLE ON THE MOST FLOOD-PRONE RIVERS THAT FLOW OFF THE WEST
SLOPES OF THE CASCADES. THAT INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE
COWLITZ RIVER...THE REACH OF THE PUYALLUP RIVER NEAR ORTING...AND
THE SNOQUALMIE...TOLT...SKYKOMISH...SNOHOMISH...STILLAGUAMISH...AND
NOOKSACK RIVERS.

FLOODING COULD BEGIN BY LATE TUESDAY AND THE THREAT WILL PROBABLY
CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY OR WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IF FLOODING DOES
OCCUR...IT WILL PROBABLY BE MINOR. HOWEVER...THE FLOODING COULD
BECOME WORSE IF HEAVY RAIN REMAINS FIXED OVER A PARTICULAR PART OF
THE CASCADES FOR MOST OF THIS EPISODE.

PEOPLE NEAR FLOOD-PRONE REACHES OF RIVERS FLOWING OFF THE WEST
SLOPES OF THE CASCADES SHOULD PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE FLOODING DURING
THE NEXT FEW DAYS. STAY TUNED FOR THE MOST CURRENT INFORMATION
FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
