URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MILWAUKEE/SULLIVAN WI

...A WINTER STORM WITH LAKE EFFECT SNOW FOR SATURDAY NIGHT
THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...

.CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT SNOW WILL GRADUALLY OVERSPREAD
SOUTHERN WISCONSIN SATURDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND
AS LOW PRESSURE MOVES FROM THE CENTRAL GREAT PLAINS AND ACROSS THE
OHIO RIVER VALLEY. HEAVY SNOW TOTALS ARE POSSIBLE OVER FAR
SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN WHERE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL COMBINE WITH THE
SNOW FROM THE LOW PRESSURE AREA. CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER THIS AREA AS ONSHORE WINDS FROM LAKE
MICHIGAN WILL GUST TO OVER 30 MPH AT TIMES.

FOR INLAND LOCATIONS INCLUDING SOUTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN...SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW IS ALSO EXPECTED WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AS
WELL. WINTER WEATHER HEADLINES WILL EVENTUALLY BE ISSUED FOR MUCH
OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN BEGINNING ON SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL BE A
RATHER LONG EVENT...WITH SNOW FALLING FOR ABOUT 24 STRAIGHT HOURS.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND LAST INTO THE
  EARLY MORNING HOURS OF MONDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 10 INCHES.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH.

* IMPACTS...SNOW COVERED ROADS AND CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES REDUCED TO 1/2 MILE OR MUCH LESS
  AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IS EXPECTED WITH THIS
STORM. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
