* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF NORTH AND CENTRAL NEW
  MEXICO...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...ALBUQUERQUE METRO
  AREA...CENTRAL HIGHLANDS...EAST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO
  MOUNTAINS...EASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY...ESTANCIA VALLEY...FAR
  NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS... GUADALUPE COUNTY...JEMEZ
  MOUNTAINS...LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY... LOWER RIO GRANDE
  VALLEY...NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS...NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO

* FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL CROSS SLOWLY FROM THE NORTH AND
  NORTHWEST TODAY AND TONIGHT WITH THE BEST CHANCE FOR FLASH
  FLOODING THAN NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO HAS SEEN IN THE
  PAST FEW DAYS. WITH ABUNDANT MOISTURE IN PLACE SOME OF THE
  STRONGER STORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS WITH
  RAIN AT RATES NEAR 1 INCH IN JUST A HALF HOUR.

* LOCATIONS WHERE THE GROUND IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM RECENT
  RAINFALL WILL BE FAVORED FOR FLASH FLOODING. OTHER VULNERABLE
  LOCATIONS WILL INCLUDE STEEP TERRAIN...URBAN AREAS AND BURN
  SCARS. KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE ON ARROYOS AND SMALL STREAMS...AND
  STAY OUT OF FLOODED LOW WATER CROSSINGS. MONITOR THE LATEST
  FORECASTS CLOSELY AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IF A
  WARNING OR ADVISORY IS ISSUED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH
FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

...HEAVY RAINS WITH FLASH FLOODING POTENTIAL FOR TODAY THROUGH
SUNDAY MORNING...

.A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS IS IN PLACE OVER SOUTHERN NEW
MEXICO AND FAR WEST TEXAS. PORTIONS OF THE AREA HAVE ALREADY
RECEIVED HEAVY RAINFALL THE LAST FEW DAYS...RESULTING IN
SATURATED SOIL CONDITIONS. AN OLD FRONTAL BOUNDARY REMAINS DRAPED
ACROSS THE REGION. THIS BOUNDARY AND A WEAK UPPER LEVEL STORM
SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE THE THREAT FOR ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS TO
REDEVELOP TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY. WITH ABUNDANT MOISTURE IN
PLACE...STORMS WILL BE ABLE TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL. EXCESSIVE
RAIN RUNOFF WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE FLOODING ALONG
DRAINAGES...ARROYOS AND SMALL STREAMS. ADDITIONALLY...POORLY
DRAINED LOW LYING AREAS AND ROADS WILL SEE INCREASED PONDING OF
WATER. THIS MOIST RAINY PATTERN WILL PERSIST THROUGH AT LEAST
SUNDAY MORNING.

  AREAS POSSIBLY TOTALING 4-5 INCHES...THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

* NORMALLY DRY ARROYOS AND STREAMS COULD BE QUICKLY FILLED WITH
  FAST MOVING WATER...MUD AND DEBRIS. LOW WATER CROSSING
  ROADWAYS COULD BECOME IMPASSABLE. FLOODING OF POORLY DRAINED
  STREETS AND INTERSECTIONS IS POSSIBLE FOR URBAN AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
