...FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING
FOR THE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS...SOUTHEAST MOUNTAINS AND MOST OF THE
SOUTHEAST PLAINS...

.MONSOON MOISTURE COMBINED WITH MOIST LOW LEVEL EASTERLY UPSLOPE
FLOW WILL RESULT IN SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST COLORADO
AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. STORMS WILL BE SLOW MOVING AND
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. IN ADDITION...RAINFALL
FROM YESTERDAY HAS ALREADY SATURATED THE GROUND ACROSS PORTIONS OF
THE AREA...AND ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL WILL QUICKLY LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING. BURN SCARS AND URBAN AREAS WILL ALSO BE HIGHLY
SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL COLORADO...
  SOUTH CENTRAL COLORADO AND SOUTHEAST COLORADO...INCLUDING THE
  FOLLOWING AREAS...IN EAST CENTRAL COLORADO...EL PASO COUNTY
  AND TELLER COUNTY AND THE RAMPART RANGE. IN SOUTH CENTRAL
  COLORADO...EASTERN SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS...FREMONT COUNTY...LA
  GARITA MOUNTAINS...NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS...
  SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS...UPPER RIO GRANDE

* FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING

* MONSOON MOISTURE AND MOIST EASTERLY UPSLOPE FLOW WILL TRIGGER
  ANOTHER ROUND OF SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND
  EVENING. RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE
  POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER STORMS WHICH MAY QUICKLY LEAD TO
  FLASH FLOODING.

* FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS...CREEKS...ARROYOS AND NORMALLY DRY
  WASHES WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HEAVY
  RAINFALL WHICH OCCURRED YESTERDAY MAY KEEP FLOWS HIGH IN SOME
  OF THE CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TODAY
  MAY CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING AT TIMES. HEAVY RAINFALL ON BURN
  SCARS MAY RESULT IN DANGEROUS MUD AND ASH FLOWS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR MUCH OF NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO FROM THE
  SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS TO THE NORTHEAST PLAINS AS WELL THE
  SAN JUAN AND JEMEZ MOUNTAINS...THE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS AND THE
  SOUTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS WITH A FOCUS ON BURN SCARS.

* FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* THE COMBINATION OF WIDESPREAD...SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS AND
  SATURATED SURFACES WILL SUPPORT THE THREAT OF FLASH FLOODING
  ACROSS THE NORTHEAST QUARTER OF NEW MEXICO AND AREAS IN AND NEAR
  THE HIGH TERRAIN OF NORTHERN...WESTERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL NEW
  MEXICO.

* MUCH OF THE NORTHEAST PLAINS RECEIVED HEAVY RAIN ON SUNDAY AND
  SUNDAY NIGHT AND THIS AREA WILL SEE QUICK RESPONSES TO ANY HEAVY
  RAIN TODAY. ADDITIONALLY...STEEP TERRAIN AND ESPECIALLY BURN
  SCARS WILL BE PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING. AREAS
  NEAR ARROYOS...SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS ARE ALSO FAVORED FOR
  FLASH FLOODING. MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS CLOSELY AND BE
  PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IF A WARNING OR ADVISORY IS
  ISSUED.
