HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
424 AM CDT THU APR 24 2014

...RIVERS LIKELY TO RISE INTO THE WEEKEND...

WITH RIVER LEVELS ALREADY ELEVATED DUE TO RECENT RAINFALL AND
PREVIOUS SNOW MELT...ANOTHER RISE BACK UP TO BANKFULL OR FLOOD
STAGE APPEARS POSSIBLE ON SOME AREA RIVERS IF RAINFALL AMOUNTS
REACH THE FORECAST AMOUNTS. THE CURRENT FORECAST IS FOR AROUND AN
INCH TO AN INCH AND A HALF OF TOTAL RAINFALL FROM YESTERDAY INTO
TONIGHT FOR ALMOST ALL OF THE REGION. BASED ON THIS AMOUNT OF
WIDESPREAD RAINFALL...RIVER FORECASTS ARE SHOWING A RISE BACK UP
TOWARD BANKFULL AND FLOOD STAGE...PARTICULARLY ALONG THE KICKAPOO
RIVER THIS WEEKEND. THIS RUNOFF ALSO LEADS TO A SECONDARY RISE
ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER FOR NEXT WEEK.

ANOTHER CONCERN IS THE SETUP FOR NEXT WEEK AS A SYSTEM STALLS OUT
ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS. THE POTENTIAL IS THERE FOR AN
ELONGATED PERIOD OF RAINFALL FROM SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY.
THERE STILL IS A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS SETUP INTO EARLY
NEXT WEEK...BUT ANOTHER INCH OR TWO OF RAIN IS NOT OUT OF
QUESTION. IF THESE RAINS OCCUR...THE THREAT OF ADDITIONAL RISES
AND MORE FLOODING WOULD CONTINUE WELL INTO NEXT WEEK.
