...VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON...

EXPECT AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AS LOW AS 20 TO 25
PERCENT ACROSS MOST OF EASTERN IOWA...WITH VALUES IN THE 20S AND
30S EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. A WEST WIND WILL GUST AROUND 25
MPH THIS AFTERNOON...WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS IN EASTERN IOWA. WITH
THE COMBINATION OF DRY FUELS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND BREEZY
CONDITIONS...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX IS FORECAST IN THE
HIGH TO VERY HIGH CATEGORIES. EXPECT AN INCREASED THREAT OF
RAPIDLY SPREADING FIELD AND GRASS FIRES...ESPECIALLY ACROSS
EASTERN IOWA INTO WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS. AVOID BURNING OUTDOORS
IF AT ALL POSSIBLE TODAY.
