THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL LOGAN COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO...

* UNTIL 1100 PM MDT SUNDAY

SPOTTERS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED FLOODING CONTINUES ACROSS
AREAS OF LOGAN COUNTY NORTHWEST AND NORTH OF STERLING COLORADO.  A
SPOTTER 10 MILES NORTH OF STERLING REPORTED THAT 4 INCHES OF RAIN
FELL YESTERDAY FORM A SERIES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT
OCCURRED FROM LATE AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS.  MANY FARMS
IN THE AREA HAVE REPORTED WATER IN THEIR HOUSE`S BASEMENTS AND
WIDESPREAD FIELD AND ROADWAY FLOODING.

MANDATORY EVACUATIONS WERE ORDERED FOR GLOBE MEADOWS AND AREAS
BETWEEN GLOBE STREET AND PIONEER ROAD DUE TO DITCH FLOODING JUST
WEST OF THE TRAILER PARK. MANY COUNTY ROADS REMAIN CLOSED IN
LOCATIONS NORTH AND NORTHWEST OF STERLING EARLY THIS MORNING.

DOPPLER RADAR INDICTED ANYWHERE FROM THREE TO FOUR INCHES OF RAIN
HAD FALLEN ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH
HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS AREA FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING AS
ANOTHER ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS IS LIKELY ALONG WITH FURTHER FLASH
FLOODING POSSIBLE.

SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...NORTHERN
STERLING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN.

* At  9:46 AM Sunday the stage was 9.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
  rise to near 10.3 feet by Monday evening.The river will fall below
  flood stage by Tuesday evening.
* Impact...At 10.0 feet...There is widespread lowland and meadow
  flooding. Water rises over the railroad tracks near Masters.
  Irrigation works are impacted.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.3 feet
  on May 10 1969.

* Impact...At 11.5 feet...Southern sections of Hardin are flooded.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Nebraska...

  South Platte River near Roscoe affecting Deuel and Keith Counties.

.Flooding continues on the South Platte River through Deuel and
Keith Counties in southwest Nebraska. The river is expected to
hold steady today, however, the rest of the week will see a slow
rise in the river level. A second crest near 10.8 feet is possible
Thursday or Friday at the Roscoe gauge site.

Additional rainfall chances over the next week and above normal late
season snow pack in the upper reaches of the river basin will
promote elevated flows along the South Platte River in southwest
Nebraska through at least the beginning of June.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety Message. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water
covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your
car to cross safely and the road beneath may not be intact. Vehicles
caught in rising waters should be abandoned quickly.

  The South Platte River near Roscoe.

* At 8:30 AM on Sunday May 24 the stage was 9.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Forecast is for the river to hold steady today, then begin to rise
  and crest near 10.8 feet by the end of the week.
* Impact...At 11.0 feet...Moderate flood stage. Homes and out
  buildings along the river may flood. Flooding occurs along the
  river between Roscoe and the Interstate 80 exchange. Water may
  approach Link 51B which is the road between Interstate 80 and
  Roscoe on the south side of the river.
