SUNDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON HAS ISSUED A LAKE
EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM FRIDAY TO
1 AM EST SATURDAY. THIS REPLACES THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH
PREVIOUSLY IN EFFECT. A WIND CHILL WATCH HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED.
THIS WIND CHILL WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING.

* LOCATIONS...SOUTHERN SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY...ESPECIALLY AREAS
  WEST OF ROUTE 56 AND SOUTH OF ROUTE 3.

* HAZARD TYPES...LAKE EFFECT SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES.

* ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* MAXIMUM SNOWFALL RATE...UP TO 1 INCH PER HOUR...MAINLY FRIDAY
  EVENING THROUGH MIDNIGHT.

* TIMING...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL MOVE INTO THE
  SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY FRIDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE
  AREA THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILLS FOR THE
  ENTIRE WEEKEND.

* IMPACTS...DIFFICULT TRAVEL DUE TO MODERATE SNOWFALL ACCUMULATING
  ON ROADS AS WELL AS REDUCED VISIBILITIES. DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND
  CHILLS ARE THEN EXPECTED DURING THE WEEKEND.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...HIGHS 15 TO 20 FRIDAY. LOWS NEAR 10 BELOW FRIDAY
  NIGHT. HIGHS 2 BELOW TO 10 BELOW ON SATURDAY WITH WIND CHILL
  VALUES POTENTIALLY 25 TO 35 BELOW.

* VISIBILITIES...A HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES FRIDAY AFTERNOON
  THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

* WIND CHILL READINGS...AS LOW AS 35 BELOW SATURDAY THROUGH EARLY
  SUNDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE-EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING.

A WIND CHILL WATCH MEANS THE THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A
COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS TO CREATE
DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS
AND WARNINGS FOR UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.
