...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA AND
NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN
  SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA...BLADEN...COASTAL BRUNSWICK...
  COASTAL NEW HANOVER...COASTAL PENDER...COLUMBUS...INLAND
BRUNSWICK...INLAND NEW HANOVER...INLAND PENDER AND ROBESON. IN
  NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA...COASTAL GEORGETOWN...DARLINGTON...
  DILLON...FLORENCE...INLAND GEORGETOWN...MARION...MARLBORO...
  WILLIAMSBURG...COASTAL HORRY AND INLAND HORRY.

* FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

* THERE IS A HIGH RISK THAT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE
MORE HEAVY RAIN TODAY. ALTHOUGH THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL MAY AGAIN BE
RATHER SPOTTY IN NATURE...THE RAINFALL WILL BE FALLING ON WET TO
SATURATED SOILS. IN ADDITION...SEVERAL STREAMS AND CREEKS ARE
RUNNING HIGH AND FAST AND WILL BE LESS CAPABLE OF ACCOMMODATING
ADDITIONAL SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF. LOW-LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS
WILL BE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLOODING WITH URBAN AREAS MOST
  VULNERABLE.

* WE ARE EXPECTING RAINFALL AMOUNTS TO AVERAGE AROUND ONE INCH
TODAY. HOWEVER...THE ENVIRONMENT IS SUCH THAT SLOW MOVING OR
TRAINING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS COULD EASILY PRODUCE MORE
THAN 2 OR 3 INCHES OF RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE
ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO
FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING
DEVELOP.
