.DISCUSSION...GUSTY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL BE FOUND ACROSS
PORTIONS OF WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA. WIND SPEEDS WILL BE 20 TO 35
MPH...WITH LOCAL GUSTS AROUND 50 MPH.TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM
THE MID 30S ACROSS CENTRAL SD TO THE MID 50S ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN
SOUTH DAKOTA. MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 50
PERCENT IN CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA TO 25 TO 30 PERCENT IN SOUTHWEST
SOUTH DAKOTA.

ON FRIDAY THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT RAIN OR SNOW AROUND
THE BLACK HILLS REGION. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 20S AND 30S WITH
LIGHT EASTERLY WINDS AND MIN RH VALUES NEAR 60 PERCENT.

THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL REACH THE EXTREME CATEGORY
THIS AFTERNOON. EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A VERY LOW
MOISTURE CONTENT OF GRASSES...AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL
ON THE GROUND...INDICATE THAT CRITICAL BURNING CONDITIONS EXIST.
A FIRE WILL START EASILY AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME LARGE
AND SPREAD QUICKLY BECOMING ERRATIC WITH EXTREME BEHAVIORAL
CHARACTERISTICS. NO OUTDOOR BURNING SHOULD TAKE PLACE.

THE OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER
INDEX WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY TO MODERATE CATEGORY.
