...LINGERING LAKE EFFECT SNOW IN NORTHWEST WISCONSIN THIS
MORNING...
...SNOW MOVING INTO THE NORTHLAND TONIGHT...

.THERE WILL BE LINGERING LAKE EFFECT SNOW IN PARTS OF NORTHWEST
WISCONSIN THIS MORNING...MAINLY ALONG AND NEAR THE GOGEBIC RANGE
IN IRON AND ASHLAND COUNTIES WHERE THERE COULD BE UP TO AN
ADDITIONAL FEW INCHES OF ACCUMULATION. ALSO...SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
MOVE INTO THE NORTHLAND FROM THE WEST TONIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY.
THE GREATEST AMOUNTS OF SNOW...ABOUT 2 TO 4 INCHES...WILL FALL
FROM ABOUT CASS COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MINNESOTA TO BURNETT COUNTY IN
NORTHWEST WISCONSIN. THIS INCLUDES THE INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR IN
PINE COUNTY. TRAVEL COULD BE DIFFICULT DUE TO LOWER VISIBILITY IN
AND SLIPPERY CONDITIONS IN THE SNOW. THERE IS ALSO THE POTENTIAL
FOR SOME SLEET LATE THURSDAY MORNING AND THURSDAY AFTERNOON OVER
THE SAME AREA.

TODAY...

* LOCATION...ASHLAND AND IRON COUNTIES...MAINLY ALONG AND NEAR THE
  GOGEBIC RANGE.

* TIMING...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH THROUGH THIS
  MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...GILE REPORTED 13.5 INCHES OF SNOW AS OF
  1220 AM EARLY THIS MORNING. NORTHERN PARTS OF ASHLAND AND IRON
  COUNTIES COULD SEE AN ADDITIONAL 3 INCHES THROUGH THIS MORNING.
  SNOWFALL TOTALS BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON SHOULD RANGE FROM 9 TO
  16 INCHES IN THE STATE HIGHWAYS 13...17...AND 169 AREAS NEAR AND
  BETWEEN MARENGO...MELLEN...UPSON...AND GURNEY. LITTLE TO NO SNOW
  IS EXPECTED OVER THE REST OF ASHLAND COUNTY AND SOUTHERN IRON
  COUNTY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...LIGHT NORTHWEST WINDS. VISIBILITY COULD BE
  LESS THAN ONE MILE AT TIMES IN THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL GRADUALLY IMPROVE THIS MORNING
  AS THE SNOW GRADUALLY DIMINISHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF LAKE-
EFFECT SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES
IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP 1 TO SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW PER HOUR FOR SEVERAL HOURS. VISIBILITIES VARY
GREATLY AND CAN DROP TO ZERO WITHIN MINUTES.  TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED. COMMERCE COULD BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

 * MODERATE LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL BECOME LIGHTER THROUGH THE
   MORNING HOURS.

 * BY LATE MORNING...PLAN ON ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3
   INCHES...MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN FROM IRONWOOD AND
   WAKEFIELD NORTH TO WHITE PINE. THERE WILL BE NO MORE THAN ONE
   INCH OF ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATION WELL INLAND FROM WATERSMEET TO
   BRUCE CROSSING.

 * THE SNOW AND PATCHY BLOWING SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE HAZARDOUS
   DRIVING CONDITIONS THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS.
