...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN EXTENDED FOR

* HORSE CREEK DOWNSTREAM OF LANGLEY POND IN AIKEN COUNTY.

* THROUGH MONDAY EVENING

* AFTER A DISCUSSION WITH THE AIKEN COUNTY EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT...THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE LANGLEY POND DAM AND
AREAS DOWNSTREAM OF THE DAM HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH MONDAY
EVENING. THE WATER LEVEL BEHIND THE DAM CONTINUES TO BE SLOWLY
LOWERED SO THAT THE DAM CAN CONTINUE TO BE FURTHER EVALUATED.
HOWEVER ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE
FORECAST TO OCCUR ACROSS THE AREA UPSTREAM OF THE DAM ON SUNDAY
AND SUNDAY NIGHT...WHICH WILL CAUSE ADDITIONAL WATER TO FLOW
BACK BEHIND THE DAM ONCE AGAIN.

* AREAS DOWNSTREAM OF THE DAM INCLUDE THE TOWNS OF LANGLEY AND
BATH NEAR HORSE CREEK. STATE ROAD 254...LANGLEY DAM ROAD AND
STATE ROAD 67...ANTHONY DRIVE...COULD BE IMPACTED WHERE THEY
CROSS HORSE CREEK. OTHER AREAS THAT COULD BE AFFECTED WOULD BE
CAMP KIWANIS LANE AND FAR FOUR LANE.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP DOWNSTREAM
OF THE DAM THAT COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A
VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

RESIDENTS DOWNSTREAM OF THE DAM SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD A FLASH FLOOD WARNING BE ISSUED.

DAM SAFETY EXPERTS...WITH STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES...
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE DAM AND WILL ISSUE PUBLIC STATEMENTS AS
CONDITIONS WARRANT. PLAN NOW SO YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO IN AN
EMERGENCY. KEEP INFORMED BY LISTENING TO LOCAL RADIO AND
TELEVISION FOR STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. FOLLOW THE
ADVICE OF PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICIALS.
