* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  SOUTHEASTERN BIG HORN COUNTY IN CENTRAL WYOMING...

* UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT

* AT 850 PM MDT...A TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTER REPORTED FLOODING OF DRY
CREEKS NEAR THE MEDICINE LODGE STATE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE...NORTHEAST
OF HYATTVILLE.  DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS
OF AROUND 0.75 INCHES IN THE AREA WITH LOCALLY UP TO 1.50 INCHES IN
PAINTROCK CANYON.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR TO MODERATE
  FLOODING TO OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW
  WATER   CROSSINGS. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE MINOR
  FLOODING INCLUDE...MEDICINE LODGE STATE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE AND
  PAINTROCK CANYON.

* FLOODING OF DRY CREEK BEDS WAS REPORTED IN THE MEDICINE
  LODGE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE AREA.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STREAMS AND DRAINAGES...
MEDICINE LODGE CREEK...PAINT ROCK CREEK...SOUTH PAINT ROCK CREEK...
LUMAN CREEK...MILITARY CREEK AND BLACK BUTTE DRAW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.

AT 631 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WITH LOCALLY 4 INCHES
OF RAIN HAD FALLEN FROM THUNDERSTORMS BETWEEN 2 PM AND 4 PM SOUTH OF
BIG TRAILS WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ALONG BOX ELDER CREEK.  AN
ADDITIONAL 0.25 TO 0.50 OF AN INCH OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
AREA THROUGH 9 PM.

RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE....RURAL
AREAS SOUTH OF BIG TRAILS...BIG TRAILS...LOCATIONS ALONG THE NOWOOD
RIVER BETWEEN BIG TRAILS AND TEN SLEEP.


THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STREAMS AND DRAINAGES...NOWOOD
RIVER...BOX ELDER CREEK...BUFFALO CREEK...SOUTH FORK LITTLE CANYON
CREEK...LOST CREEK...NORTH FORK LITTLE CANYON CREEK...NORTH FORK
LITTLE CANYON CREEK...MIDDLE FORK LITTLE CANYON CREEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE-QUARTER TO ONE-HALF INCH ARE
POSSIBLE IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

IN HILLY TERRAIN...THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH
ARE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL
ACROSS FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW
INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

REPORT FLOODING TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SO THAT THEY
MAY TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO CLOSE FLOODED ROADWAYS. THEY WILL
RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON.
